Make scones yourself – it’s really easy:
If you want to bake scones yourself according to the classic recipe, you need 500 grams of flour, a packet of baking powder, 40 grams of sugar, some salt, two eggs, 120 grams of soft butter, 250 grams of whole milk yoghurt, an egg yolk and a tablespoon of water for about twelve portions.

First you mix the flour with the baking powder, the sugar, the eggs and a pinch of salt. Then add butter and yoghurt. Roll out your finished dough about two and a half centimeters on a floured work surface and then cut out circular pieces with a glass or a cutter.
Then place the unbaked scones on a baking tray lined with baking paper and brush them with a mixture of egg yolk and water.
Bake your scones in an oven preheated to 190 degrees for about 15 minutes. When the scones have cooled, you can serve them with clotted cream – a thick cream with 55% fat – and strawberry jam.
Scones variations that are fun and delicious:
If you like, you can add 100 grams of raisins, dried fruit, muesli, chopped apples, pieces of chocolate or chopped nuts to the dough. Spices such as cinnamon, some chilli or vanilla are also good in scones.
But you can not only bake sweet scones yourself, savory versions also taste wonderful. For example, you can put a little less sugar in the basic dough and add grated cheese, herbs and spices. Ham or bacon cubes, pieces of vegetables such as courgettes or aubergines, peppers or tomatoes also go well with it. With tomatoes, however, you should make sure that they contain a lot of liquid. Therefore, as a precaution, remove the seeds beforehand and only use the firm pulp.
