- A cube of fresh yeast or about 40 g of yeast powder
- ½ liter of milk
- 1 kg of flour
- 100ml oil
- 1 packet of vanilla sugar
- 1 packet of powdered sugar
- 200 grams of sugar
Depending on your taste, you can also mix raisins, dried apricots or other dried fruits and nuts into the batter. For a creative and colorful decoration you need sprinkles, chocolate or something similar.
Small versus large: Do you want to bake a huge loaf or many small pieces?
For the next step you need to know whether you want to bake a large loaf or rather many small rolls. Finally, you need the appropriate baking pan.
- For a large loaf: grease a baking tin, form the dough into a ball and place in the tin. Tip: Lubricate your fingertips with a little oil so that you can easily remove the dough from the bowl.
- Cover the dough again and let it rest for at least two hours.
After the dough has risen, it can now be baked at 160 degrees with top and bottom heat for one hour. - As soon as the bread is ready, it can first be cooled and then glazed.
- For the glaze you need powdered sugar and some hot water: Mix with a whisk and then spread generously over the top of the bread with a brush. Create drops that run down.
Are you the creative type? Then you can let off steam while decorating. Use colorful sprinkles or jelly beans. When the glaze has dried, you can enjoy the bread with your family and friends.
Pro tip: This is how you braid the dough
- Divide the dough into two large halves and place one part in the baking pan.
- Cut the other half into six equal strips.
- Lay the pieces side by side and braid. After the braid is finished, carefully place it on the first half of the baking pan.
- The result is impressive.
